PAL Health Technologies honored by DEC
PAL Health Technologies Inc., the Pekin-based manufacturer of prescription foot and ankle orthoses and accompanying products, was presented the state Employer of the Year award, given anually by the Department of Economic Commission to employers who provide job opportunities and support to veterans.
"At PAL, we respect the value veterans bring to our company," said John Smock, president of PAL. "In our environment, we appreciate the military mindset. Military training and the well-grounded approach that comes with it, makes veterans very adaptive to the many opportunities we have available, and their diversity of skills and ethical moral standards make them a valuable asset."
The awards are given to small, medium and large companies with a workforce of at least 10 percent veterans, in business at least five years and employ both veterans and private sector employees.
PAL won in the medium-sized category (51-200 employees) and is eligible for the regional and national awards.
Digital shape acquisition system offers revolutionary orthotic prescription solution
ANAHEIM, Calif., June 13 — PAL Health Technologies will debut the new Xtremityscan System and give away a free unit at the Western Podiatric Medical Conference in Anaheim, California, June 19–22 at the Disneyland Hotel.
Xtremityscan is a digital shape acquisition system that allows users to acquire three-dimensional foot shapes in seconds, without the messy, time-consuming plaster casting process formerly used to obtain the same information. Xtremityscan's advanced imaging software, the PAL Scanmanager, features a user-friendly electronic patient database, custom prescription orthotic ordering solutions, and simple online ordering, resulting in faster orthotic production and delivery.
“Patient data is quickly and easily captured and stored using this system,” said PAL Health Technologies Vice President, Lois Barnum. “Orthotic selection is also simplified, allowing Xtremityscan users to select from options built into the software included with the system or customize prescriptions as needed.”
The Western Podiatric Medical Congress is the largest podiatric exhibition west of the Mississippi. PAL will host Xtremityscan demonstrations at booth 608 during the event. Demonstration attendees will be registered to win a free Xtremityscan Micro, a portable model of the scanner.
Xtremityscan is available as a mobile cart-based scanning system that operates wirelessly and can move between treatment rooms, or as a portable model that can travel among multiple offices.
System software captures an image of the plantar surface of the foot, then creates a three-dimensional model of the image. Images can be rotated 360 degrees and displayed in wireframe, surface and topographical views.
Prescriptions are easily uploaded via PAL's secure servers. During uploads, the system automatically detects and transparently installs any necessary software updates.
Xtremityscan is available for lease through PAL, and is currently in use across the United States.
